WKQB (102.9 FM) - branded as 92.7 and 102.9 Kiss FM, - is an American broadcast radio station licensed to serve the community of Pocahontas, Virginia, including Tazewell and Bland counties in Virginia and Mercer County in West Virginia. WKQB is owned and operated by West Virginia-Virginia Holding Company, LLC.[2]
Programming
Since May 2011, WKQB has aired a contemporary hit radio music format branded as "92.7 and 102.9 Kiss FM" in conjunction with sister station WKQR (92.7 FM) in Mullens, West Virginia.
History
WELC-FM (1990–2011)
On May 30, 2008, the owners of WELC-FM filed with the Federal Communications Commission for a construction permit to move the station from Welch, West Virginia to Pocahontas, Virginia.[3] On May 27, 2011, WELC-FM began broadcasting from a tower located in Bland County, Virginia and was from that date officially licensed to Pocahontas, Virginia.[4]
92.7 and 102.9 Kiss FM (2011–present)
On May 19, 2011, the callsign for WELC-FM was switched to WKQB.[1] On May 24, 2011, WKQB changed formats from adult contemporary to contemporary hit radio, branded as "Kiss FM" and began simulcasting on WKQR. On June 20, 2011, WKQB added the syndicated The Ace & TJ Show morning show. [5]
