WKPQ (105.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Hornell, New York, USA, the station serves the Elmira-Corning area including the Canisteo valley and northern Pennsylvania. The station is currently owned by Phoenix Radio, Inc., with a swap to WS Media, LLC pending.

History

The station signed on in 1946, three years before its AM sister station (the now defunct WHHO).^[1] The station changed call signs to WHHO-FM no later than 1981-03-12. on 1983-06-15, the station changed its call sign to the current WKPQ.^[2] It is the only one of the three stations Bilbat Radio has owned that remains on the air; WHHO and WQLE have since lost their licenses. In 2009, Bilbat sold the station to Phoenix Radio, Inc.^[1] and features programing from ABC Radio and Jones Radio Network.^[3] A sale is pending to WS Media LLC, the current owner of WENY, WENI and WGMM, who will trade the station one-for-one for WCBA and pay off the debts WKPQ incurred during the Bilbat years.

On October 10, 2011 WKPQ changed their format to country, branded as "Kickin' Country 105.3".^[4]
