WIVL (88.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian format. Licensed to serve Jasper, Georgia, USA, the station is owned by Community Public Radio, Inc.[1]

History

The station went on the air as WBCS on December 4, 1998. On March 15, 1999, the station changed its call sign to WNEE and, on November 3, 2008, changed again to its current WIVL.[2] WNEE is now the broadcast callsign of another CPR-owned station that used to be called WIVL.

Broadcast translators

WIVL is the FCC-listed primary or "parent" station for W217BJ FM 91.3 in Freeport, Illinois, some 983 miles (1,582 km) away. Like WIVL, this station is also owned by CPR. When its construction permit was issued, the station was originally given callsign W214BP for a few months in 2001, but did not go on the air until 2004. It is located north of town, not far northeast of where U.S. 20 meets Illinois 26.[3]

WIVL is also the listed primary station for W218CA FM 91.5 in Stockade, Florida, with a transmitter site located along Interstate 95 just north of Interstate 295 on the southeast side of Jacksonville. This station is owned by Lighthouse Christian Broadcasting.[4]

There are also 32 other translators which have been applied-for but not granted, including as far away as Anaheim, California, and the furthest at Port Angeles, Washington, 3,608 miles (5,807 km) away.
