Von Platen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
von Platen is a noble family originally from Rügen and Pomerania. Several branches of the family live in Sweden, where members have been noted statesmen and high officials.
The family's ancestor is Otto "cum Plate," who was Councillor in Rügen in 1255. A branch of the family was naturalised as Swedish nobility in 1751 (adliga ätten 1922). Two branches of this branch have since been elevated to baronial status.[1] Several members of the family beloning to branches which have not been introduced at the House of Nobility also live in Sweden; these branches are part of the unintroduced nobility. A German branch received a comital title in Germany.
