Vitín
Vitín (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvɪciːn]) is a small village and municipality in southern Bohemia, having around 250 inhabitants. It is close to famous cities of Hluboká nad Vltavou and České Budějovice.
Vitín is best known for two large pagan Slavic barrow cemeteries dating to early Middle Ages, which are located on a forested hill of Baba, approx. 2 kilometres from the village. Each of the cemeteries contains some 50 to 80 barrows ordered in distinct lines going from the west to the east. The barrows are thought to contain burials of villagers; they are relatively modest, with highest of them having some 5 metres in diameter and 2 metres high.
Though the cemeteries are large, it is not particularly easy to find them in the dense forest at top of Baba hill. People interested in visiting them should contact archaeologists in Prague or České Budějovice for details of the way.
