Vishwaroopam II ('Vishwaroop II' in Hindi) is an upcoming Indian spy thriller film simultaneously being made in Tamil and Hindi languages, written and directed by Kamal Haasan. It is the sequel to Vishwaroopam (2013) and stars Kamal Haasan, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah reprising their roles from the original. While the first film was set in the United States, Vishwaroopam II will take place in India.[2] Produced by Venu Ravichandran in Tamil, the film is also being produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor in Hindi as Vishwaroop II.[3] The film is in its post-production stage and is slated for an early-2014 release.[4] The Tamil version of the film is to be dubbed into Telugu as Viswaroopam II. The rights for Kerala have been sold to Kaleeswari Films and Karnataka to Ganesh Pictures.[5]

Cast

Production

As indicated in the prequel, the film will be set in India. Kamal has earlier indicated that the second part will be laced with a strong mother-son sentiment.[6] He stated that 40% of the film was shot during the making of part one.[7]

Due to personal reasons, cinematographer Sanu Varghese opted out of Vishwaroopam II. He was replaced by Malayali Shamdat Sainuddeen who did Malayalam films like director Shyamaprasad's musical Rithu and Shafi's Marykundoru Kunjadu.[8] M Ghibran was signed up to compose the music.[9][10]

The shooting of Vishwaroopam II started in Thailand[11] and the team shot scenes at the Bangkok airbase.[12] The Chennai schedule of the film started on 13 June.[7]

Haasan has added Waheeda Rahman & Anant Mahadevan for the sequel in addition to the main cast.[13] While part 1 was a little over 2 hours 20 minutes, the sequel's length will be less than 3 hours.[14]

The crew is currently shooting in Kodaikanal hills.[15] Vishwaroopam II released a new trailer on it in the function of IIFA award.[16][17] For the Hindi version, lyricist Prasoon Joshi has replaced Javed Akthar.[18]

Robert Horwell was DoP for the UK Unit. Shooting in London and various other parts of the UK.

Release

Vishwaroopam II is scheduled to release on 10 March 2014. Haasan also stated that the film would be released on DTH in the United States.[19] [20]
