Viqarunnisa Noon School (Bengali: ভিকারুননিসা নূন স্কুল) is an all-girls school in Bailey Road, Dhaka, Bangladesh; it has about 20,000 students.
History
Viqarunnisa Noon School is one of the renowned schools in Bangladesh. It has a glorious past.It was established in 1952 by Begum Viqarunnisa Noon, wife of Firoz Khan Noon, the then governor of [East Pakistan]. From that, till today, this school is keeping its image equally remarkable in the sky of Educational institutions. Founder
Begum Viqar-un-Nisa Hossain Noon (née Victoria) was Austrian by birth.[1] Born in 1920, she married Sir Feroz Khan Noon in 1945,[2] who had been the Indian High Commissioner in England, and would later become the seventh Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Noons often participated in social work and Viqarunnisa Noon School was one of its projects; there is also a Noon Educational Foundation that funds Pakistani students to study in Oxford and Cambridge, alongside the Viqar un Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

Description and activities
Viqarunnisa Noon College is a center for higher secondary education in Bailey Road, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1978.The college took the first place in the combined merit list of the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations and seven times in twelve years between 1994 and 2006. It is named after the Austrian Pakistani social worker, Viqar un Nisa Noon (also wife of Feroz Khan Noon, the 7th Prime Minister of Pakistan).
History established in 1952 at Baily Road, Dhaka by Viquarunnesa Noon, wife of Firoz Khan Noon, the Governor of East Pakistan. It started as a preparatory school with only a few children. But it expanded very soon to a high school and in 1956, prepared students for Senior Cambridge Examination.From that, till today, this school is keeping its image equally remarkable in the sky of Educational institutions.
Viqarunnisa noon school is one of the best Educationa Institute in Bangladesh only for girls. It has 5 buildings, colonies for the teachers and staffs. Viqarunnisa provides transport facility to its student. The campuses are well facilities and very much secure. It also has an English medium section from class 1-10 but in the Baily Road Branch only.
The school earned reputation for quality education and excellent results in public examinations. In 1978, it started a college section with higher secondary courses. Under excessive pressure of new admission, the school had to gradually introduce multiple sections, afternoon shifts, and in 1995, a new branch at 'dhanmondi'.Recently added 'Azimpur' and 'Basundhara' branch. Its main campus is spread over about 6 acres of land. It conducts education in both English and Bengali media in humanities, science and commerce programmes. The school is for girls only and in 1999, had 11,000 students, of whom 2,000 were in the college section. It had 212 teachers, of whom 15 were men. The students of the school take active part in cultural programmes, debates and sports.

Arts Science and Commerce
The students of Viqarunnisa have lots of activities. They have clubs that arrange inter-school and inter-college competitions.Besides Studies student can take part in different types of extra curricular activities.There are four major clubs in Viqarunnisa Noon School and College: Debate Club Science club Language Club Environment Club Love Club
These clubs arranges different collaborative events where students of different Schools and colleges can take part. It helps students to make new friends and helps the students to show their potentials.
Every year they celebrate all the national festivals in their own campus. In 21 February [the mother language day] they have arranged a provath feri. As Viqarunnisa has a [shahid minar] in its main campus, they give flower and pray for the language martyrs there. The school also celebrates 26 March, the Independence Day of Bangladesh and 16 December, the Victory Day of Bangladesh.Beside these students also participate in parade and display held in national stadium on Independence Day.They also enjoy 14 April [pohela boishakh]. The Boishakhi Mela is held at the school campus.The college also arranges different cultural programs on different occasions where students can take part to show their talent. Such as:Pohela Falgun.
In the present global perspective of the twenty-first century, because of unprecedented advancement, dynamism, diversity of science and technology, life has become much more competitive. Skilled, educated, proficient and potential persons are now demanded to cope with this dynamism and challenge. With this end in view, viqarunnisa noon school and college has been established undertaking the responsibility of providing modern and international standard education to the students.

From a large number of prospective qualified teachers, only outstanding performers are finally selected as teaching assistants who gradually obtain the position of an honorable faculty.
This school has 363 excellent teachers for almost 20,000 students only in the school section. Every year almost 1200 students sit for the S.S.C examination. Except the last year Viqarunnisa is in the first position for 5 years consequently. The education level is very high there. The environment is very friendly. Besides education Viqarunnisa encourage its student for extracurricular activities like, singing, dancing, art etc. Many social works are done here. Different types of workshops based on different social problems are arranged by the students of Viqarunnisa. .
Students participate in art competitions and in sports like football (soccer), badminton, and handball. Every year Viqarunnisa Noon School participates in a display competition on 16 December (Victory Day of Bangladesh). The school always encourages its students to be educated in the history of Bangladesh, as well as provide the students with opportunities to celebrate the culture and incorporate that into their school life.
College Library
The College Library is open daily from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm allowing all of our students and staff access to the facilities. As well as over 14,000 books, the library provides a safe and quiet study area with the use of 12 computers and 12 notebooks. All computers have access to College intranet and internet. A scanner and colour laser printer adds to the ease of use for our students. Our collection is updated on a yearly basis so that students are kept well informed on the latest information in their academic subject area. Departmental reading lists supplied by the departments are available for students both in the library and on the College website. The Library catalogue is accessible throughout the school.

Reading for pleasure is high on the library agenda and to help our students relax we have several bean bags or relaxing chairs in which to lie back or sit and read from.
To help our students make informed decisions the library subscribes to over 40 magazines and 4 daily newspapers. All students in years 1-3 use the Library on a weekly basis exploring the different genres with the help of their English teachers. The Library always has two members of staff on duty to assist our students find information, help in choosing books or to direct them to the many resources available.
