Vijay Ghate (born October 18, 1964) is an Indian tabla player.

Early life

Ghate was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.[1] He started learning his art at an early age of three in Jabalpur. He then moved to Mumbai, and learned for over twelve years under Suresh Talwalkar.[2]

Career

Ghate accompanied Indian classical musicians, including Hariprasad Chaurasia,[3] Vilayat Khan, Pandit Jasraj, Shivkumar Sharma, Amjad Ali Khan, Birju Maharaj, Shahid Parvez, and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.[citation needed]

Ghate also collaborated with jazz guitarist, Larry Coryell and saxophonist, George Brooks.[4]
