Vijay Dahiya  pronunciation  (born 10 May 1973, in Delhi) is a retired Indian cricketer. A a right-handed batmsan and wicketkeeper, Dahiya started playing First-class cricket for Delhi in 1993–94. He made his international debut during the 2000–01 series against Zimbabwe. He was also a part of the North Zone cricket team which won the Duleep and Deodhar Trophies during the 1999–00 season. As of 2012, Dahiya is the assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, the Kolkata-based franchise cricket team of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Early life and International career

Dahiya was born in Delhi. He made his First-class debut against Punjab in the 1993–94 season. His international debut was in an ODI against Kenya at Nairobi on 3 Oct 2000 in the icc knockout trophy. His contribution in that match which India eventually won was a stumping and a catch. He went on to play in total 19 ODI’s for India. The last of which was against Australia at margao in the 2001 series. His highest ODI score was a knock of 51 off 39 deliveries against Australia in the 1st ODI at Bangalore which helped set up a match winning total of 315. He made his test debut against Zimbabwe at Nagpur in Nov 2000 which India drew. He played only one more test match after that.[1]

Domestic career

It was in the 1993-94 season when Dahiya debuted for Delhi against Punjab at Ludhiana. He went on to play for Delhi till his retirement.[1]

Retirement and coaching

He retired from all forms of cricket after playing his last match against Uttar Pradesh in Dec 2006.[1] He was appointed the assistant coach of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009.[2]
