Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi is a Dravidian political party in Tamil Nadu. Its chairman is Thol. Thirumavalavan, a lawyer from Chennai. The party's main principle is the uplift of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minorities such as the Christians and Muslims of Tamil Nadu.Now it was started in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala
Power in Madras
The capital city of Tamil Nadu is dominated by the political parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, AIADMK and Pattali Makkal Katchi. In Tamil Nadu legislative assembly election, 2011, the three political parties presented a tough competition for All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam though their alliance failed to capture power due to controversies that had occurred during their rule. A reporter from a leading political journal described Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi as one of the parties in Tamil Nadu.
Party in north Tamil Nadu
The party claims that it plays a most influential role in the northern parts of Tamil Nadu, where most people belong to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, including Muslims and Christians. The party opposes Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant for the welfare of the poor people in this region and gained the support of fishermen from the coastal region.

The party announced that it would run candidates for all the city corporations of Tamil Nadu.
Party's growth; For this reason, party leader Thol. Thirumavalavan's visit to Sri Lanka was forbidden by the Sri Lankan government. The party also declared that Mahinda Rajapaksa should be charged with war crimes for the alleged assassination of thousands of innocent Tamil people during war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. In the Parliament of India in May 2012, Thirumavalavan joined other leaders and raised issue of the Ambedkar cartoon, sparking a controversy in Parliament.
