VideoPad is a video editing application developed by NCH Software for the home and professional market. The software is complemented by the VirtualDub plug-ins that work with the software.[1]
VideoPad is part of a suite that integrates with other software created by NCH Software. This other software includes WavePad, a sound-editing program; MixPad, a sound-mixing program and PhotoPad, an image editor.
Interface
The VideoPad interface consists of a menu bar across the top of the window that have drop down menus under the headings, File, Edit and Help, under which you can alter the settings, and save the projects that you are working on. Underneath this menu bar are large icons to Add Media, Capture, Insert Blank, Narrate, Subtitles, Preview, Save Movie, Options, Buy Online (Limited to the trial version), and Help.
There is a section underneath and to the left with Media List, Effects, Transitions, and Overlay tabs. The Media List tab allows a user to select a media that has been imported and view it from here it can be added to the timeline/storyboard below via a simple 'Add' Button simulated by a green arrow pointing downwards and also via a 'drag and drop' feature. To the right of this section there is an area for playback from the timeline. Beneath these is the area where clips can be rearranged, transitions can be added and effects effected. There are also two soundtracks available for use where you just drag your audio file over the soundtrack line to add it.
Reception
VideoPad has received generally favorable reviews from various websites and aggregators such as Cnet and TopTenReviews, but has been noted to not be invulnerable to rendering issues.[2][3]
