Viçosa, Minas Gerais

Viçosa is a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais, located in the Zona da Mata, 228 km (142 miles) southeast of the state capital of Belo Horizonte. As of 2004 its population is estimated to be 73,121 and the area of the municipality is 279 km². The altitude is 648 meters. It hosts the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, which is considered one of the best agricultural and technological universities in Brazil.
