Vesturbær is a district in Reykjavík in Iceland, comprising eight neighbourhoods: Gamli Vesturbær, Bráðræðisholt, Grandahverfi, Hagahverfi, Melar, Skjól, Grímsstaðaholt, Skildinganes and Litli Skerjafjörður.
Overview
The district is home to the University of Iceland, in addition to four grade schools: Melaskóli, Landakotsskóli, Vesturbæjarskóli and Grandaskóli and one middle school Hagaskóli. Vesturgarður is the local service center. It provides various social and school services and support for leisure activities. The athletics team KR is also based in Vesturbær, and its stadium is in the area.
