Vest buster

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vest buster is pejorative slang for a handgun cartridge that can fully penetrate a contemporary bulletproof vest.[1]

While several handguns and cartridges could be considered vest busters, two popular examples are the FN Five-seven[1] firing the FN 5.7×28mm[2] [3] and the Smith & Wesson Model 500 firing the .500 S&W Magnum.[4]
