Vernetta Lopez is a Singaporean actress and radio DJ. She played the role of Denise in MediaCorp's English language sitcom Under One Roof from 1995 to 2003.

Career

Lopez has many portfolios: Radio DJ, Actress, Wedding Planner, President of One Singapore, Professional Emcee.

Actress

Lopez's actual first television appearance was for a music television program called NiteRage, where from 5 hosts, it was streamlined to just 2; Vernetta Lopez and Bernard Lim. Starring in Singapore's first family sitcom shot Lopez to stardom in the 90s. Playing Denise, the comedy hit record breaking ratings and started Vernetta on her acting career professionally. Since then, she has starred in various productions and has taken on roles ranging from daughters to mothers and from doctors to mental patients. She has starred in other television sitcoms like, 'Can I Help You', 'First Touch', 'Shiver', 'Random Acts', 'Big Day Out', and Okto Channel's 'Zero Hero', playing Lady Magnificent alongside Timothy Nga.

She has also stomped the comedy floorboards in 'What the Butler Saw', starring Gerald Chew.

Lopez has also starred in RainTree Production's local English movie, 'The Leap Years', alongside Li Lin, Nadya Hutagalung, and Paula Malai Ali, as well as made a cameo appearance in local feature film 'City Sharks' in 2003.

Radio DJ

Lopez has been a familiar voice on the radio for the last 16 years, starting as a DJ on Heart 91.3, before moving on to Perfect 987FM, Class 95FM, and to her current gig on the Breakfast Show with Mark Van Cuylenberg on Gold 90.5, a Singapore's English radio station. Having won several Favorite Radio DJ over several years, Lopez still laughs it up every morning from 6am to 10am on Gold 90.5.

She describes herself as a Full-Time, Part-Timer, i.e. she is a Free Agent but has a regular radio show from Monday to Friday and also has project work for television or movies.

Education

Lopez was educated at Assumption English School and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Family and personal life

Lopez is of Portuguese and Thai ancestry on her father's side and Peranakan ancestry on her mother's side.[1]

In 1997, Lopez married fellow radio DJ Mark Richmond. The couple divorced in 2001.

Lopez then married British software engineer Wayne Gladwin on 25 July 2009.[2]
