Verkhny Ufaley (Russian: Верхний Уфалей) is a town in the northern part of Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Ufaley River (a tributary of the Ufa River), 142 kilometers (88 mi) northwest of Chelyabinsk. Population: 30,481 (2010 Census);[2] 34,360 (2002 Census);[5] 40,061 (1989 Census).[6]
Ufaley is one of the oldest Ural cities, founded in 1761. It is situated in a picturesque district. The growth of the city is connected with the building and development of the factories, situated in this district due to the mineral resources in the region.
The city has become one of the most advanced industrial cities in Chelyabinsk Oblast. There are 13 schools, 31 kindergartens, 7 hospitals and many other foundations in Ufaley.
History
It was founded in 1761 and was granted town status on April 26,[citation needed] 1940.[4]
Geographical position
Ufaley is situated at the northern part of Chelyabinsk oblast in the Ural part of Russia. In the town, there is a small airport. New York time is -10 hours from the time in Ufaley, Tokyo time is +3 hours, and Moscow time is -2 hours from Ufaley time. Postal code of Ufaley is 456800. Dialing code: 35164 Portreeve is Zaizev U.
Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, it is, together with fourteen rural localities, incorporated as the Town of Verkhny Ufaley—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1] As a municipal division, the Town of Verkhny Ufaley is incorporated as Verkhneufaleysky Urban Okrug.[1]
Economy
There are many minerals on the territory of Ufaley city - deposits of iron and nickel ores, marble and fireclay. They are responsible for graduating most of the factories in the area. Name the most fabulous one - "UZMM" (Ufaley Metallurgical Machinery Works) and "Ufaleynicel". "Ufaleynicel" is considered to be the biggest factory and enterprise in Ufaley. 75% of the total volume of the produced in Ufaley goods comes to "Ufaleynicel". Moreover it is the biggest employer of the city. The total population of the city, according to the 2002 enumeration, is 39725 people, about 10000 work in the factory.
Itkul
One of the most spectacular places of visit in Ufaley is the lake Itkul. Lake Itkul is situated at the altitude 720 metres above sea level. It is fed by springs, creeks and small rivers so the water in it is fresh and clean being completely restored within a year. It is clear but its clearness has a brownish reflection. Moreover the landscape near the lake is so fabulous and remarkable, that it has become the favorite and the most attractive place to spend weekends not only for citizens of Ufaley, but for the tourists from the whole region.
