Verizon Florida LLC is a Verizon operating company providing telephone service in Florida to former GTE regions.

It was founded in 1901 as the Peninsular Telephone Company. It was later acquired by GTE and became known as General Telephone Company of Florida, and later lengthened to GTE Florida, Incorporated.[1]

In 2000, GTE Florida was renamed "Verizon Florida", upon GTE's buyout by Bell Atlantic.

It serves the Tampa Bay Area.
