Velma Veloria

Velma Veloria (b. October 22, 1950) was the first Filipino America as well as the first Asian American woman to be elected to the Washington State Legislature serving 1992-2004. She was born in Bani, Pangasinan in the Philippines around 1939. Veloria graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in medical technology.[1]

  • From 1990 to 1991 Veloria worked as a legislative aide to Art Wang who chaired the Finance Committee.
