Vavta Vas (Slovene: Vavta vas) is a village on the right bank of the Krka River in the Municipality of Straža in southeastern Slovenia. The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]

The local parish church is dedicated to Saint James (Slovene: sveti Jakob) and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novo Mesto. It was built in the 18th century on the site of a medieval predecessor.[3]
