Vani Viswanath (born 13 May 1971) is a South Indian actress. She has acted in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu movies.[1] Vani won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for her performance in Susanna directed by T. V. Chandran.[2] She was termed as Mollywood's "Action Queen".[3]

Early life

Vani was born to Astrologer Vishwanadhan and Girija, in Ollur, Thrissur in 1971.[4] Her mother hails from Kannur District and her father hails from Thrissur District.[5]

Career

She has appeared in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam movies. She was among the big stars of her time in the South. Her Tollywood movie Gharana Mogudu with Tollywood superstar, Chiranjeevi was a huge hit.

Personal life

While acting in Malayalam films, Vani fell in love with co-star Baburaj, who was one of the most prominent actors in Malayalam films doing negative roles and who later became a comedian through the 2011 Malayalam movie Salt N' Pepper. The couple married in 2002 and has two children, Archa (born in 2004) & Adrith (born in 2008).[6]
