Valtimo (literally "artery") is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the North Karelia region. The municipality has a population of 2,438 (31 January 2014)[2] and covers an area of 838.10 square kilometres (323.59 sq mi) of which 37.75 km2 (14.58 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 3.05 inhabitants per square kilometre (7.9 /sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
