There are an estimated 500,000 Uzbeks in Pakistan (Urdu: ازبک, Uzbek: Oʻzbeklar). The Uzbek populations in Pakistan compromise of Uzbek immigrants from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan (around 7.3% of Afghans in Pakistan are Uzbeks).[1] The Uzbeks can be found mainly in north-west Pakistan, compromising the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (in particular Peshawar), Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, Uzbek militants allied to al-Qaeda from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Islamic Jihad Union are believed to reside in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. Their number is predicted to be anywhere from 500 to 5,000.[2]
