Ushiku (牛久市 Ushiku-shi) is a city located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2010, the city has an estimated population of 81,532 and a population density of 1,380 persons per km². The total area is 58.88 km².
The city was founded on June 1, 1986, and is home to one of the world's tallest statues, the Ushiku Daibutsu. Additional attractions include Chateau Kamiya, a wine chateau started in 1901, and Lake Ushiku, a scenic lake that is said to be the birthplace of the mythical Kappa (folklore) beast.
It is also the location of the East Japan Immigration Control Center. Two detainees committed suicide in 2010.
