Universal Building Society

Universal Building Society was a UK building society, which had its head office in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, England. It was established in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1863.
Merger
In 2006, the Universal Building Society merged with the Newcastle Building Society.[1] At the time of the merger, the Universal was the 29th largest building society in the UK with assets of £600m.[2] It had nine branches and employed approximately 130 staff.
