Uncoupling (neuropsychopharmacology)

In neuropsychopharmacology, uncoupling (or decoupling) is a process of receptor- or ligand-binding sites/domains becoming separated, or moving alignments, or becominginternalised as a result of drug tolerance from exposure over a period of time to a pharmacologically active psychoactive substance or toxin.
