Umesh Kamat (Marathi: उमेश कामत, born 12 December 1978) is an Indian actor working in Marathi film and television. He has worked in many films, television series and plays. He took acting lessons from Ramnath Tharwal's acting classes Kalaghar.[2]
Kamat is married to actress Priya Bapat. The couple together is brand ambassador of Gopinath Patil Parsik Janata Sahakari Bank.[3] In 2013, he was also seen in the film Time Please along with his wife. The film also had Sai Tamhankar and Siddarth Jadhav playing main roles.[4] The film was remade from the popular play Nava Gadi Nava Rajya, wherein Kamat and Bapat had played the lead couple.[5] The story revolved around the problems caused in the life of a newly married couple due to their seemingly small generation gap of 4-5 years.[6] The play had started its performances in 2012 and had completed 125 shows by August 2012.[7] He also played the lead role of an adolescent boy Mayuresh who falls in love with a neighbouring middle aged women played by Vandana Gupte in the play Man Udhan Varyache[8]
As of 2013 he is seen in a daily Marathi soap Eka Lagnachi Teesri Goshta as advocate Om Chaudhari opposite actress Spruha Joshi.[9] The same year also saw release of his romantic-musical film Lagna Pahave Karun with Mukta Barve.[10] His film Parees (2013) was based on politics and corruption in education field and Kamat played the lead role of Ram who fights the system.[11]
