Umarzai

Umarzai or Omarzai (Muhammadzai) (Pashto: عمر زئی ) (descendants of Umar or Omar) The Umarzai are a subgroup of the Muhammadzai tribe. As their name suggests, they are found in the Umarzai village located in the Hashtnagar area of Pakistan's Charsadda District. They are named after Umar Khan, the grandson of Muhammad, who is the common ancestor of the Muhammadzai tribe. Families (khels) who live in Umarzai & Mera Umarzai include:
- Shabas khel live in the village of Mera Umarzai. They are descendants of Muhammad Umar khan, and reside in the Zarbab ghari. They are active in politics and many work as government servants.
- Oryaz khel live in Umerzai and Mera Umerzai. Most Oryaz khel are educated.
- Bati khel inhabit the village of Umarzai and Mera Umarzai.
- Mehmood khel reside in Mera Umerzai. Notable tribe members include Bashir Khan Umerzai (ex minister & member of provincial assembly.)
