Uhuru Stadium

Uhuru stadium, (formerly known as the Tanzania National Stadium) is the current home of Tanzanian Dar es Salaam-based football clubs Simba SC and Young Africans FC. It is currently undergoing major renovations, and will have a capacity of approximately 20,000 people up completion. It is located next to the new national stadium of the Tanzania national football team, the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, which has an all seated capacity of 60,000 people. It was opened on February 8, 2009 by the president of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Hu Jintao. The president of Tanzania, Mr.Jakaya M. Kikwete attended the opening ceremony as well.
