Ubayda ibn as-Samit

Ubaydah ibn aṣ-Ṣāmit (Arabic: عبيدة بن الصامت) was a companion of Muhammad and later one of the successful commanders of Rashidun army and served under the Rashidun caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar. He was one of the main field commanders during the Muslim conquest of Egypt, sent with reinforcement from Medina. He served in Egypt as a corps commander from 640 to 642.
