Tyne–Tees derby
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tyne–Tees derby (also known as the North East derby) is a term which is often applied to matches between Newcastle United and Middlesbrough. The derby is more of a regional derby between these two clubs who have played each other more often over the last ten years than both these clubs have played their nearest rivals Sunderland. Middlesbrough play their home games at the Riverside Stadium, while Newcastle United play their home games at St. James' Park.
Some of the derbies were shown live during the 1990s as part of the North East Match programme on the local ITV region, Tyne Tees Television.
