The two-lined monocle bream can reach a maximum length of 23cm. There are some variations between the Indian and Pacific ocean species. The Pacific variety has yellow stripes and dorsal fins, whereas the Indian ocean variety lacks the yellow color. Upper portion of the body is grey and the lower portion white.
They inhabit tropical reefs and are frequently spotted by divers. They feed on small fish and benthic invertebrates.
