From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TwinStrata is a privately held company, founded in 2007, that markets cloud storage products for businesses. The company was founded by Nicos Vekiarides and John Bates and is headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts. TwinStrata's product, CloudArray was introduced in May 2010 as a virtual appliance followed by CloudArray hardware appliances in September 2010.

CloudArray is referred to as a cloud storage gateway.[1] CloudArray utilizes cloud storage from one or many public or private cloud providers to extend existing on-premise storage infrastructures to the cloud. CloudArray presents an iSCSI interface and provides local performance, thin provisioning, data reduction, bandwidth optimization, at-rest encryption and in-cloud snapshots. Primary use cases for CloudArray include storage capacity expansion, data protection and disaster recovery. Since CloudArray operates both as a software and hardware solution, it can run on-premise and/or in the cloud, enabling in-cloud compute environments as disaster recovery or secondary expansion sites for compute and storage resources. Unique Compute-Anywhere capability allows applications to access managed data volumes access on-premise, off-premise and in the cloud.[citation needed]

TwinStrata was mentioned in a blog about cloud storage.[2] TwinStrata was a 2011 Red Herring Top 100 North America award winner[3] and 2011 Red Herring Global 100 winner.[4] TwinStrata was listed as one of CRN's emerging vendors in 2011.[5]
