Turkmenbashy Airport (IATA: KRW, ICAO: UTAK), also known as Krasnowodsk Airport, is a domestic airport in Turkmenistan. It is located in city Türkmenbaşy (Krasnowodsk). The airport opened in 1959. Flights depart for Ashgabat (Ashgabat Airport), Daşoguz (Daşoguz Airport) and Istanbul (Atatürk International Airport).[2] Founded in 1959.
Building
In April 2010 opened a new four-story terminal building with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. In addition, put into operation a new control tower height of 61 m, equipped with special equipment from Siemens and Thales, as well as housing for receiving VIP-persons, meetings, meetings, and conferences.
At the same time the airport can take 7 flights while providing international standards of service. The total area of the plot on which the new terminal is located, is about 80 hectares. The neighborhood is landscaped, planted and decorated with fountains. There are also indoor and outdoor parking area for more than three hundred and eighty cars.
At the opening of the International Airport of Turkmenbashi city was visited by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. He expressed confidence that the new aviation hub will serve as a successful implementation of the policy of the Turkmenistan to turn the Caspian Sea in the sea of friendship, peace and good neighborly relations, to the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and other foreign countries.[3]
At the airport created optimal comfort for waiting speedy check-in and boarding. These services - jet bridge, information board, telephone office, baggage room, post office. Rooms for passengers awaiting flights are equipped with comfortable furniture throughout - cozy cafeterias, snack bars, shops, duty-free, comfortable CIP-room.
VIP terminal
In the immediate vicinity of the main body of the terminal is to receive VIP-persons. Used for VIP charter and business aviation, as well as to receive special flights and departure of delegations of the Government of Turkmenistan and guests of city of Turkmenbashi. TBuilding has all the facilities for meetings and conferences.
Cargo Terminal
In addition to the main terminal was commissioned in international cargo terminal, freight transportation service, equipped with automated handling.
