Tungal is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Jamkhandi taluk of Bagalkot district in Karnataka.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Tungal had a population of 6689 with 3442 males and 3247 females.[1] Savalagi is nearest place to Tungal, maximum people of Tungal grow Sugarcane, Wheat, Jowar, Cotton as major crops. It is governed by Gram Panchayati, all public problems are taken care of by Gram Panchayati Chairman. Educational system especially till 10th standard is good and for further education students go to nearby cities which have good colleges. Every year Darga modinsabha festival, Okli, urs, and other festivals are celebrated with much fan-fare. Each and every house participate in all the festivals irrespective of caste and creed. Lots of bus facilities are available to and for Jamkhandi and Athani.
