The location of Tune in Denmark

Tune is a small town southeast of Roskilde, Denmark. It is mainly known for its airport. It is also one of the oldest towns in the area (at least 800 years old). Mainly due to its ties with Roskilde, one of Denmark's oldest towns. In the middle ages, Tune was a large village, with mostly farms. It was also an intermediate station for the kings, traveling from Roskilde to Mosede at the Bay of Køge, because Mosede had a natural harbour.

Tune has a population of 5,063 (1 January 2013)[1] and is mainly residential with mostly single-family detached homes, but there are also small commercial and industrial areas with 2 schools, (1 from 0-5th grade, and the other 0-9th grade), a tiny mall with a public library, two supermarkets, a couple of clothshops, 2 real estate agents, a restaurant and two pizzerias, a bank and other shops.

There are two districts in the town, the western old part and the eastern new part. The old part of the town is characterized by twisted streets, and old houses. Tune is located in Greve Municipality in Region Zealand.

From July 1, 2008, Tune have been given a local ZIP code "4030 Tune", previously "4000 Roskilde".

Tune has a church from the middle ages, about the 12th century, which is quite small, compared to the size of the town.

The name "Tune" is the plural form of tún n 'fenced area; country courtyard' (cognate to English town).
