Tulsa Public Schools is an independent school district serving the Tulsa, Oklahoma area in Northeastern Oklahoma. It is the 2nd largest school district in Oklahoma.[2][3] As of 2010 the district serves approximately 41,224 students,[4] up slightly from 41,200 students from Kindergarten through Twelfth grade in 2006.[5] It is governed by an elected school board.
In 2009, the Tulsa Public School district was put on accreditation probation due a continuing problem of underperforming schools. If the district fails to improve, it will lose accreditation.[6][7]
