Tsuruoka Station (鶴岡駅 Tsuruoka-eki) is a railway station on the Uetsu Main Line in Tsuruoka, Yamagata, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).

Tsuruoka Station is served by the Uetsu Main Line, and is located 139.4 rail kilometers from the terminus of the line at Niitsu Station.

Station layout

Tsuruoka Station has one side platform and one island platform connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station has a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office and a "View Plaza" travel agency.

History

Tsuruoka Station opened on 21 September 1918.[1] From 8 December 1929 to 1 April 1975, the station was also served by the Shonai Electric Railway.[citation needed] A new station building was completed in December 1978.[citation needed] With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of the East Japan Railway Company.
