Tricht (51°53′N 5°16′E / 51.883°N 5.267°E) is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Geldermalsen, and lies about 10 km west of Tiel.
In 2006, the town of Tricht had 2258 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.49 km², and contained 660 residences.[1] The statistical area “Tricht,” which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2380.[2]
History
On June 25, 1967, Tricht was hit by a tornado, destroying part of the town and killing 5 of its inhabitants; 32 people were wounded. One-third of the Tricht population lost their homes.[3]
