Tribeni is a small town in Hooghly in the state of West Bengal, India. It was an old holy place for the Hindus. The Muslims took over it during early phases of their conquest of Bengal.

Geography

Tribeni is located at 22°59′N 88°24′E / 22.99°N 88.40°E / 22.99; 88.40.[1]

At Tribeni in Hooghly District in the Indian state of West Bengal the Bhagirathi branched off into three streams The Saraswati River flowed south-west beyond Saptagram, the Yamuna (this is distinct from the river of same name in northern India and several streams of the same name in eastern Bengal) flowed south-east, and the Bhagirathi proper flowing through the present Hooghly channel to Kolkata and then through Adi Ganga, past Kalighat, to the sea.[2]

Transport

Tribeni is 8 km from Bandel on the Bandel-Katwa Branch Line.[3] This Place can also be reach via Chinsurah to Kalna / Jirat, Rout no- '8' bus service. Bus service is available in every 45 minutes from 6.30 am to 8.30 pm.You may also reach at Tribeni via Kalyani Rly Station. A Bansberia Municipality initiative, TATA Magic public Transport car ferrying a Hundred of daily passengers for West to East side of Ganga over Iswar Gupta Setu in Bansberia. Ferry service also avail from Tribeni Ghat.
