Trevor Loke is a Canadian entrepreneur and Vancouver Park Board commissioner in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.[1]

Career

Weeve

As an entrepreneur, Loke co-founded the crowd funding company Weeve, based in Vancouver, where Loke worked as the company's Chief Operating Officer.[2][3][4] On February 14, 2013 Weeve was purchased by LX Ventures.[5]

Vancouver Park Board Commissioner

Elected in 2011 as a member of Vision Vancouver under the banner of Mayor Gregor Robertson, Loke became the youngest elected official in the history of Vancouver at the age of 22.[6] Loke was elected as Vice-Chair of the Park Board Committee in 2012.[7]

Initiatives

  • Limit chlorine in public pools to 1.5PPM and introduce secondary disinfection systems, including ozone and ultra-violet[8][9][10]
  • Campaign finance reform in municipal elections[11]

Controversies

  • At a January 29, 2013 public meeting at Killarney Community Centre, Loke spoke on the topic of Park Board and community centre financing, addressing an audience "made up largely of blue-collar workers, seniors, immigrants and young families" with a "tirade [or] rant about the inequalities between poor associations and their rich counterparts in communities like Killarney," drawing a disapproving response from the audience.[14][15]

Family

Loke is a relative of Canadian doctor and co-discoverer of insulin James Collip.[citation needed]
