The transom knot is a simple lashing knot, based on the constrictor knot, used to secure two linear objects at right angles to each other. To reinforce, a second transom knot can be made on the opposite side and at a right-angle to the first. Suggested for binding kite sticks.[1] There is some confusion between the constrictor knot and the strangle knot as the basis for the transom knot. Ashley shows it variously as the one or the other in his book.[1]
