History

Transcom group started its journey in 1885 through tea plantations. This diversified business house now has interests in many segments in the industrial and service sectors in Bangladesh.

Some of the brands managed by the group include: Pepsi, 7-Up, Mirinda, KFC, Pizza Hut, Phillips N.V, Whirlpool, Maybeline, Garnier, Heinz, Frito-Lay, Lindt, Servier, Novo-Nordisk.

Bangladesh Lamps Limited (BLL) is one of the oldest organization of the Transcom Group. Bangladesh Lamps Limited was established in Bangladesh in the year of 1962 at the time of East Pakistan. It was East Pakistan Lamps Limited. After the independence, it was named as Bangladesh Lamps Limited.The factory is situated on the area of 15 acres.They started the production of Philips GLS (General Lighting Services) Lamps under the supervision of the Dutch officers until year 1993 when Transcom Electronics Limited took over the business in Bangladesh region. The production department consists of four individual production machine belts. They are SU-I, SU-II, BHH-I and BH-II. These belts can be divided in two groups. Lower Group/Small Unit ( SU-I,SU-II) Higher Group/Big Unit ( BHH-I,BH-II) Now BLL has other two production unit those are FTL(Fluorescent Tubular Lighting) and CFL(Compact Fluorescent Lighting). CFL Production unit started in 2008 and FTL started its production at 2011. The product of both CFL and FTL production units are branded as Transtec CFL and Transtec Tube Light. Almost 600 employees are working in BLL . The Head Position of the BLL Plant is Factory Manager/Plant Manager.Factory Manager is a Graduate Engineer. Besides Factory Manager, there are Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Quality Manager, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial and Production Engineer, Electrical & Electronics Engineer, Mechatronical Engineer,Chemist are working in Bangladesh Lamps Limited.Production department has Senior Production Engineer,Production Engineer, Assistant Production Engineer, Production Supervisor , Production Adjuster,Machine Operator etc. Maintenance department has Senior Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Supervisor , Electrical Supervisor , Mechanic , Electrician etc. Quality Department has Senior Quality Engineer, Assistant Quality Engineer, Quality Officer , Quality Supervisor etc.It is enlisted as Engineering Firm in the Dhaka stock exchange .
