Transcend Information, Inc. is a Taiwanese company headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan that manufactures and distributes memory products. Transcend's product portfolio consists of over 2,000 devices including memory modules, flash memory cards, USB flash drives, digital audio players, portable media players, portable hard drives, multimedia products, graphics cards and accessories.[2]

It has offices in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong, China, India and South Korea. It was the first Taiwanese memory module manufacturer to receive ISO 9001 certification and the first company in the world to offer a lifetime warranty on all of its memory modules.[citation needed] The company distributes its products primarily in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

In 2007, Gartner reported that Transcend has been ranked as the world's third largest manufacturer of USB flash drives behind SanDisk and Kingston, with 8.7% global market share.[3]

On 24 April,2013 major changes has been done in their Life-Time warranty policy.

History

Peter Shu founded Transcend Information, Inc. in Taipei in 1988. Its first products were: "JetMate" laser printer driver, for producing high quality Chinese characters, and "KeyPro" software protection system. Manufacturing started on the first memory product for laser printers in 1989.

In 1997 Transcend was awarded ISO-9001 certification. The Japanese office was opened in Tokyo and the first range of digital still camera memory products launched. PC-100 DIMMs were also introduced. In 1998 Transcend received the National Award for Small and Medium Enterprises from the Small and Medium Enterprises Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan R.O.C.

In 2006, Transcend opened a state-of-the-art Operations Facility in Shanghai in 2006. It was honored as one of Taiwan's Top 20 global brands.
