Tranny is a pejorative slang term. It is used chiefly to describe people who are transgender, transsexual, transvestites or cross-dressers. Transgender activists, such as Roz Kaveney, consider the term a slur and recommend against using it.[1] The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) state that the term is "usually considered offensive and/or defamatory" by members of the transgender community.[2] However, many people who are not trans women, including the drag queen RuPaul have defended their use of the term.[3]
