The Darmstadt tramway network is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Darmstadt, a city in the federal state of Hesse, Germany.

As of 2012, the network comprised nine lines,[1] covering 42 kilometres (26 mi) of route,[1] and serving 76 stops[2][3] (counting stops on all lines, there are 162 tram stops, including 92 low-floor stops).[1]

History

Opened in 1886, the network has been operated since 1912 by Hessische Eisenbahn-Aktiengesellschaft (HEAG (de)) either directly, or, more recently, through one of its subsidiaries.
