Trade Street is a major southeast-northwest street of Charlotte, North Carolina. It traverses through the center of Uptown Charlotte and has a major intersection with Tryon Street at the corner of Trade and Tryon. Trade Street is noted for its long history in the city, a list of historical buildings that include the First Presbyterian Church. The street is also noted for some notable structures that included the Carnegie Library, House of Refuge and the Elmwood Cemetery.[1] According to another source, Trade Street was the second path that intersected the Great Wagon Road.

The Hotel Charlotte was also located at the intersection with Poplar Street.

According to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Historical Landmarks Commission, "... the commercial area extended only one block from the square in each direction along North and South Tryon streets and West Trade Street. On East Trade, stores stretched two blocks to the railroad tracks and also turned the corners onto North and South College streets a short distance."[2]
