From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Toukola (Swedish: Majstad) is a district of Helsinki, Finland, around 4 km north of the town centre, at the port of Vanhankaupunginlahti. Toukola is part of the administrative region of Vanhakaupunki.
The eldest part of the town consists mostly of wooden villas and small houses. Next to the sea, in later years, the new area of Arabianranta was built, with modern tower blocks. The population of Toukola is estimated to increase from 2,500 to over 10,000.[citation needed]
Porcelain and design
The Arabia porcelain factory was located in Toukola.[citation needed] Production has now moved, but the area is still known for design and art industry.
