TouchVision is an American news and information digital broadcast television network. The service provides rolling news coverage that is distributed to television, mobile and tablet platforms.

Format and distribution

The network provides a 24/7 presentation in widescreen of world and national news through pictures and video, mainly adapted from wire services, along with other information such as local weather and sports score cut-ins and several original feature segments. The last few minutes before the end of the bottom of the hour allow a window for the local station to insert a local news capsule or weather update. The network also airs a 'week in review' half-hour program intended to summarize the network's best segments of the week and introduce the network on the affiliate's main station.

TouchVision is geared to the “Millennials Plus” generation (ages 18-35) that has never lived in a world without digital technology and social media. The service can play out on four media platforms: linear TV, apps for smartphone and tablet, and its Web site.[1]}

Through the network's website and a location setting by zip code or browser location sharing, the network's feed is also available real-time and with limited DVR-like controls through the web and the network's iOS App Store and Google Play applications depending on local availability of an affiliate.

TouchVision is based out of Weigel Broadcasting's Chicago facilities under the LLC "Think Televisual", and is run by former radio consultant and XM executive Lee Abrams, Steve Saslow and Brandon Davis.[2]

Launch

The service launched in beta form on July 1, 2013 over the DT4 digital subchannel of Weigel's CBS affiliate WDJT-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,[3] replacing a time-purchased real estate listings channel programmed by local realtor Shorewest Realtors.[4] The service had its official launch on September 16, 2013,[5] and began to be carried by Weigel's WMEU-CD's DT2 subchannel in Chicago in early November 2013.

TouchVision has a promotion campaign now underway in 18 markets and currently claims a collective audience approaching about 1 million monthly.[6]
