Total Girl is a magazine published by Pacific Magazines. It is aimed at preteen girls residing in Australia, New Zealand, and The Philippines.[1] The slogan of TotalGirl is "No Boys Allowed!"
Total Girl is Australia's number one magazine for tweens.
The magazine was founded in 2002, and reached a peak circulation of 80,000 copies.[2] After a 22 percent drop in circulation over the last half of 2006, the magazine redesigned its masthead, and changed its palette and fonts in an attempt to increase its appeal.[3] The magazine often comes with free gifts, from advertisers for the magazine. The magazine also has its own show called Total Girl TV, which airs on Boomerang every weekday from 7.30am. Currently, the show airs Puppy in My Pocket on Mondays, The Smurfs on Tuesdays, Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures on Wednesdays, Sabrina the Animated Series on Thursdays, and WinX Club on Fridays. Total Girl TV first aired on September 27, 2009.
On 18 October 2010, Total Girl released their 100th issue (collector's edition) and had their 8th birthday. Miley Cyrus was on the cover holding balloons. The magazine came with party jewellery and a poster with all the covers from their previous issues on it.
In 2013, Total Girl released two new applications on the Apple App Store in conjunction with Flinders Partners and Yesoft Pty Ltd. The free apps are Star in a Story with Total Girl, released 1 June 2013 and Total Girl Popstar Party, released 12 September 2013. Star in a Story with Total Girl features Jessie, a character who has had a serial in Total Girl from its first issue. Users can create their own story with Jessie from a range of options, read celebrity gossip, participate in quizzes and find recipes on the app. Total Girl Popstar Party includes favourite songs from the magazine's audience, from artists such as Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, One Direction and Samantha Jade for karaoke. Tweens can also record videos, and download songs from a range of artists including Carly Rae Jepsen, Katy Perry and Pink to create playlists.
Every year, Total Girl has its back to school issue at the start of January, the Best Besties issue in August and a Christmas Issue in December.
