Tony Eveready (born Duane Reed Moore on March 12, 1971) is a hardcore porn star who entered the industry in 1994. He is known as the self-styled "Gangsta of Porn" and "Thug of Porn", easily recognizable by his distinctive cornrow hairstyle. During his two-decade-long career, he has appeared in thousands of pornographic movies. Notable roles include the groundbreaking, blockbuster hit Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle (2001) and the internet video "1 Man DP".

In 2008, Eveready was sentenced to more than six years in federal prison, stemming from charges of cocaine and firearm possession.[1] Eveready was released from custody in August 2013.[2]

Career

Eveready made his first documented professional porn appearance in 1994, with Black Gang Bangers 3. However, he had also made amateur films dating back to 1991.[3] After a string of black-themed pornos, the up-and-coming Eveready soon became known for his "gangsta" style and memorable interracial sexual encounters. Since entering the business, he has starred in nearly 300 studio-released movies and countless internet shorts.

Rapper Snoop Dogg cast Eveready in his first well-known roles. The "Thug of Porn" appeared in the documentary/hip-hop music video/adult film Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle (2001) and its blockbuster follow-up, Snoop Dogg's Hustlaz: Diary of a Pimp (2002).

Crime & Jail

In 2003, Eveready was sentenced to five years in prison on an assault charge. He served two and a half years before being paroled.[4]

In July 2007, Eveready was stopped by police along Haskell Avenue while driving his Chrysler sedan without license plates. At the time, Eveready had been on parole for his aforementioned assault charge.[5] During a search of his vehicle, officers found 4 grams of cocaine and $389 on his person. In addition, his vehicle contained a digital scale, an unloaded semiautomatic handgun, and a collapsible baton on the driver’s seat. Eveready initially claimed to the police that the weapons were used in his videos as props, but in his post-arrest interview, he revealed that he sold drugs when his porn work was slow.<ref name="jailed2"/[6] He was indicted the following October.[5]

On May 12, 2008, Eveready pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. A federal jury acquitted him of trafficking cocaine, but convicted him of possession of cocaine on May 23. The case was investigated by both the ATF and the LAPD. On August 26, authorities announced that Eveready had been sentenced to 77 months in federal prison.[1] Eveready was incarcerated at Federal Correctional Institution Sheridan in Oregon, among other locations. On August 9, 2013, Eveready was released from custody.[7]
